fall-skin-careHave you ever wondered why your face tends to break out when summer exits and the colder months of fall begin? Post-summer acne breakouts are more common than you think, and there are reasons for this.

The colder season can cause skin to dry out, so people often use more moisturizer than they normally do. Unfortunately, this can lead to acne breakout. And because the weather is colder, some people wash their face less often, which aggravates acne.

There are also psychological and emotional factors related to breakouts during fall. The end of summer signals the start of school, a period that is particularly stressful for most parents and teenagers. In addition, some people are given to low spirits, anxiety, and depression during fall season mostly because of the changes in the environment. Stress and negative emotions can cause acne flare-ups.

So how do you deal with fall acne breakouts? Here are some practical tips.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating a balanced diet and doing a regular exercise routine can help combat the breakouts and reduce your stress levels. Exercising also helps release endorphins, which lessen stress and anxiety.

Use noncomedogenic cosmetics. Make sure that you use only those products that won't clog your pores. Refrain from using cosmetics that are oil-based, as these will block your pores and lead to a breakout. Cosmetic products with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are a good choice. They cover up your acne and fight it at the same time.

Never pop your pimples. Popping your pimples will spread the bacteria to other parts of your face and cause more acne to break out. It may also cause irritation, which can make acne more difficult to treat and cause deep scars.

Clean your face regularly. Wash away the dirt and oil on your face regularly using acne fighting products. There are many cleansers and treatments that are especially formulated to treat acne. Choose products that have more natural ingredients, as these are both effective and gentle on your skin.

Consult a specialist. Be guided by a professional who knows and understands your condition best. As much as possible, don't go about treating acne on your own. Although there are a number of home remedies and products that can help fight acne and are easy to use, it is best to consult a specialist particularly if your condition has become worse.
