acne-dietWhat's the Difference between Rosacea and Acne?

If you're over 30 years of age, look closely at your face and if you notice unusual skin redness around your cheeks, nose and chin area, then you could have rosacea. There is huge beauty myth that if your skin gets red patches, you simply have just gotten a bad case of acne. But since acne's symptoms appear similar to rosacea, they sure have their differences.

Rosacea is a skin condition in which facial blood vessels enlarge on parts of your face and can spread out into the neck and chest area. Whereas acne occurs when sebum, skin cells, and hair get clumped together into a plug, this plug gets infected with bacteria, resulting in the development of pimples when the plug breaks down. The pimples is what makes the skin red.

But when it comes to treating rosacea, it's good to have a collective approach when trying to rid this annoying skin disease by using ZENMED skin products and following a proper diet. You've heard the popular saying, you are what you eat? So when you have rosacea you certainly want to stay away from spicy foods, alcohol, and other triggering factors. In most cases, rosacea is triggered by what you in ingest so it's best to come up with a rosacea diet plan and here are some popular food suggestions for reducing the effects.

Beneficial Foods to Eat When You Have Rosacea

  • Chicken
  • Fish: herring, tuna, salmon, halibut, and sardines
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Fresh fruit: The whole berry family especially blueberries, blackberries, and cherries are ideal vascular constrictors that decrease skin redness
  • Unsalted nuts
  • Seeds
  • Tofu
  • Whole Grains
  • Flax seed oil can be added to a salad or fruit bowl, it's a great source of omega-three essential fatty acids and is an ideal dietary supplement.
