Healthy skin cells can be achieved by consuming the right amount of nutrients everyday. Natural and organic foods and beverages will boost radiance and help prevent sudden breakouts. We’ve compiled a list of ingredients that are prefect for perfecting your glow.

Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds contain omega-3 fatty acids which can be extremely beneficial for your skin; they have anti-inflammatory characteristics, which are perfect if you suffer from acne, psoriasis or eczema. If you happen to have dry skin, flaxseeds can also be helpful by providing improved hydration. When applied to your face in the form of a lotion or cream, they help to attract water to your skin cells, which leaves your skin looking radiant. Sprinkle some flaxseeds into your smoothie or over your morning oatmeal to help you improve your glow and fight the onset of fine lines and wrinkles.

Carrots

Carrots are great for your general health, your eyes, digestive system, teeth and skin. They are rich in the antioxidant, beta-carotene, which helps to keep your skin healthy and enables a radiant glow. Carrots are perfect if you suffer from sudden skin flare-ups, as they assist with the over-production of cells in the outer layer of your skin. The vitamin A that is found in carrots can also help reduce the development of cancerous skin cells.

Kale

Kale is a dark leafy-green vegetable that contains beta-carotene and lutein which helps to improve the firmness and elasticity of your skin. Kale also contains a large amount of vitamin C which can reduce free radical damage that can occur when you spend too much time in the sun. Free radicals can attack the fibres in your skin which help to support elastin and collagen. When this happens, you can experience premature ageing. Steam or dry your Kale and sprinkle with a little sea salt.

Almonds

Almonds are packed full of vitamin E which acts as an antioxidant and helps protect your skin from UV rays. Almonds nourish your skin leaving it smooth and radiant. They can also help protect against free radicals. Just a note – almonds are extremely calorie dense so only eat them in moderation — 8 per day is just fine.

Water

One of the most important ingredients for your skin is water. Water flushes out any  toxins from your body and supplies your cells with nutrients that help keep your body operating at a high level. Water also keeps your skin cells plump which can make your skin look firmer and younger. Make sure that you drink at least 2 L of water every day. Increase this when the weather is hot and when you are exercising.

You will be amazed at how quickly your skin responds to consuming these healthy ingredients on a daily basis. Make them part of your weekly grocery shop and you will see and feel the difference.
