How to do a ZENMED Facial for Rosacea

The benefits of a home facial are not just related to the skin, they also can be a great source of relaxation. For those with Rosacea, extra care is needed to protect the skin from harm. When done right, an at-home facial for Rosacea can be soothing and beneficial.

Most facials involve steam and hot towels. While these may be appropriate for those with other skin types, they must be avoided by those who suffer from flushing or redness — both have a tendency to trigger flare ups and may cause broken capillaries. Your skin will thank you if you remember that and follow these steps:

1. Remove makeup

If you have stubborn waterproof mascara, use a gentle makeup remover. Otherwise, skip to step two, as the cleanser I am recommending contains gentle emulsifiers to remove oils and makeup.

2. Gently cleanse the skinZENMED-Rosacea-Facial-Post-Img1

Our non-irritating Gentle Cleansing Cream is ideal for troubled skin. It will gently remove any traces of makeup, while whisking away environmental debris and other impurities without stripping the skin. As it is a soap free cream, it will not dry your skin like traditional cleansers.

*Apply cleanser to damp skin and gently rinse away.

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is crucial as it helps shed dead skin cells that accumulate over time. If you have Rosacea, however, choosing the proper exfoliant is crucial. Our new Cream Exfoliant (coming soon!) works to delicately, yet effectively, slough dead skin cells without irritating your sensitive skin.

*Use our exfoliant twice weekly morning or night.

4. Apply a soothing mask

If you have Rosacea, you know the side effects such as soreness, discomfort and redness all too well. Instantly calming, our Anti-Redness Mask is packed with soothing Aloe Vera Gel, plus potent anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Licorice Root Extract and Willow Bark. This gel mask also contains antioxidant Green Tea and cooling Cucumber so you will feel immediate relief upon application.

*Apply to your damp skin in a thin layer two times a week. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse gently with tepid water.

5. Spritz on a calming spray to tone

Unlike traditional toners, our Nutrient Boost Spray was designed to calm and soothe upon contact. The spray is infused with Vitamins A & E, as well as Licorice Root and Willow Bark to help stop redness before it begins. It works especially well for those who experience flushing.

*Spritz directly to your face after you’ve rinsed the mask or cleansed, being careful to avoid the eyes and mouth.

6. Strengthen with a serum

After you’ve spritzed on our Nutrient Boost Spray, it’s time to apply our Support Serum. This non-greasy serum strengthens collagen, while instantly reducing redness. It contains high-grade Vitamin C, which has been shown to visibly reduce swelling. Some people with sensitive skin find that they need to be gradually introduced to this product due to the high Vitamin C content.

*Ease into the Support Serum by using it twice a week the first week, and then applying daily after that.

7. Treat the delicate eye area

Do not forget the eye region. With the skin underneath your eyes being as thin as an eggshell, this area needs special care. Our new Essential Undereye Serum is a targeted treatment to address multiple concerns ranging from puffiness and fine lines to dark circles. Packed with peptides to address the signs of tiredness, caffeine to help fade the appearance of dark circles, and hyaluronic acid for fine lines, this is the ideal product for caring for this delicate area.

*Apply a small amount to your finger and gently pat under and around the eye area and lightly massage in without tugging.

8. Nourish with a moisturizerZENMED-Rosacea-Facial-Post-Img3

The last step in the ZENMED Facial for Rosacea is to apply your moisturizer to help seal in the benefits of the other treatment products used in your facial. Choose the one that  is best suited to your skin type.

Oily Skin: Apply the Oil-Free Day Lotion. Water-based and lightweight, this formula is extra gentle and soothing to the skin without fruit acids. It contains Vitamin B5 and antioxidant Vitamin E, as well as mattifying properties to help keep shine at bay.

Dry and damaged skin: Apply our AVT Cream because of the anti-aging peptides and abundant antioxidants to help hydrate and protect the often troubled skin caused by Rosacea.

Aged and damaged skin: Apply the new OMEGACERAMIDE+ facial cream if you are concerned about treating multiple signs of aging. Rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and moisture-boosting Hyaluronic Acid, this potent moisturizer for lines and wrinkles works beautifully to tackle skin sagging and aids in post-procedure healing.
