On vacation

Greetings from sunny West Vancouver, B.C.! I have the privilege of house-sitting at a friend’s place – right on the beach! And let me tell you – it has been H.O.T. hot! Now, most sun bunnies would be thrilled at the opportunity to lay on the beach and dip their toes in the ocean surf. Not me however, as my poor skin can’t take it! Look up pale in the dictionary and there’s a picture of me – I swear! 10 minutes in the sun without SPF 55 and I am redder than a lobster. And to make matters even worse – when the redness goes away I don’t get that lovely residual tan that most others do, nope, right back to white, white skin.

So, while it has been fun and relaxing spending my time on the water – I do have that added hassle of having to re-apply my SPF 55 every hour, on the hour, and keeping my face covered with a wide brimmed hat – tres chic! This fact of my life was hardened into me as a child after suffering way too many blistering painful sunburns – no way I want to go through that again, so struggle I do. The end result has not been too bad though – from years of meticulously applying sunscreen I am now in my 30’s with no lines or wrinkles! It’s not just in the sun either, I apply the ZenMed Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30 year round – rain, snow, or shine because it offers my skin not only the protection of harmful UVA and UVB rays that can be present even when the sun isn’t, but it gives my skin a nice dewy glow!

Back to the beach I go, just let me reapply first…….
