Still going to bed with your makeup on – read this!
Have you ever gone to bed without removing your makeup? Other than waking up the next morning with makeup smudged all over your face and pillow you are actually doing some significant damage to your skin.
Even if you are wearing the so called breathable, or natural, makeup’s, leaving them on overnight and having them rubbed into your face by laying your head down can clog pores. And we all know that clogged pores can lead to acne and blackheads! Your skin can also dry out from not being able to breathe properly and your skin may be extra sensitive for the next few days due to leaving your crusty dried out makeup on all day and night. Plus you don’t want to have makeup on your pillow that you will lay your head on the following night to have it rub back onto your clean skin.
You must, must, must remove your eye makeup every night! Leaving on mascara can actually cause your eyelashes to become brittle and they can actually fall or snap off! Left on eye makeup can lead to problems on the eyelid such as sties and even pink eye. Your eyelid is extremely sensitive and can get an eczema like rash from leftover makeup particles.
I have written in previous posts some natural, easy ways to remove your makeup, but if you really are lazy and don’t want to take any time before bed – keep some wipes beside your bed and give your skin a wipe before going to bed. This still won’t replace a good remover, wash, and treatment routine before bed, but it’s better than not removing anything.
So, please save your skin – and your pillowcases – and take the extra minute to remove your makeup before you get your beauty sleep.
