Cold sores can be rather unpleasant, especially if you are the person who suffers from them. They are very painful and irritating and can pop up at the most annoying moment, without any warning.

treating cold sores

When it comes to cold sore treatment a lot of people think that there’s nothing they can do about it, and cold sores are something they are going to have to deal with for the rest of their lives. One of the most negative effects of suffering from cold sores is low self-esteem as they can feel very embarrassing.

Cold sores lay dormant in your nerve cells and are a permanent infection. You can experience many cold sore outbreaks throughout your life.

Cold sores are also known as fever blisters and are caused by the virus herpes simplex one. The blisters can appear in your mouth, nose or lips. Cold sores usually take around two weeks to fully disappear. The virus will then lay dormant in your nerve cells, just waiting for the next breakout.

There really isn’t a permanent cure for cold sores but you can help prevent them from appearing too often by having a strong immune system. Your immune system is at its strongest when toxins have been removed from the body and restored vitamins and minerals have been added by eating wholesome natural foods.

By having a strong immune system your body will be protected against infections and damage from bacteria, viruses, yeast, toxins and cancer cells. Your immune system includes your bone marrow, thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils, adenoids and appendix.

A perfect cold sore treatment is taking a supplement that boosts your immune system, this should be taken in the winter time, when you are under extra pressure from life and when you are feeling under the weather. There are many cold sore treatments out there but a lot of them should really be avoided due the harsh chemicals they contain.
