Willow bark extract has been used for thousands of years to help reduce fever and inflammation and is today being used in more and more natural skin care products. It is an astringent and has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties.

Willow bark extract contains salicin which is responsible for its healing properties.  There are a number of other properties that are found in willow bark extract that have antioxidant, fever reducing, antiseptic, and immune boosting powers. White willow has been proven to help with pain relief, slightly slower than aspirin but the effects are said to last a lot longer.

It also contains salicylic acid, which stimulates new cell formation.  Salicylic acid is extremely helpful in treating acne because it has the ability to penetrate the follicle. It helps with the shedding of dead skin cells from within the follicle, which keep the pores clear of cellular debris. By doing this it reduces the number of acne breakouts.

Willow bark extract is also a great option if you suffer from rosacea.  This herbal ingredient helps with anti-irritant and anti-redness effects to sensitive skin.  A particular product that is excellent for rosacea is an Anti-Redness Mask which contains willow bark extract and is applied directly to your skin twice a day. It’s even gentle enough to use on your eyelids if you need to.

If you are suffering from problem skin at the moment that it may be advisable for you to purchase a natural product that contains willow bark extract, especially if you have rosacea.

This is certainly a herbal ingredient that will be able to help you conquer problem skin.
