You may be cleansing your skin day and night; keeping your hands off your face, and doing everything else right, but if you are not regularly cleaning your makeup brushes, your skin may be suffering!
Makeup brushes can be loaded with bacteria and dust because of how they are stored, which can get on your skin and clog up pores, and not only that – but who wants to put a fresh face on with old, cakey makeup brushes!!
Washing your brushes takes a few minutes a few times a week and could save your skin. Simply use a brush cleanser formulated to deep cleanse the type of brushes you have, or you can even use a gentle foaming cleanser, such as the ZenMed Facial Cleansing Gel, if your brushes do not have special needs. Hold the brush so the water is running down the bristles, trying not to get the handle too wet. Add a small amount of cleanser and gently shampoo through until water runs clear. Re-form the bristles and lay flat to dry, or line brushes up on edge of sink with bristles hanging over rim. Depending on the thickness of the bristles, it can take up to 12 hours for them to dry completely so be sure to give yourself plenty of time before you need to use them again.
