LIFESTYLE. This is the big one! If you are a smoker or drinker – it will take a toll on your skin. If you are constantly under a lot of stress, or don’t sleep a lot – your skin will appear older faster. These are all things you can change – improve your diet, don’t smoke, don’t drink excessively, reduce your stress and get enough sleep – you should notice a difference quickly.
HORMONES. Teenagers tend to get a lot of acne because their hormone levels can be out of control. This can also be why major skin changes happen during pregnancy and menopause as well. It can be hard to change your hormone cycle but if you take good care of your body and use vitamins and herbs to regulate your hormones – you will notice they make less of an impact on your skin.
FREE RADICALS. This is another big one! If you live in an area that is polluted or get too much sun exposure – this can age your skin FAST! Be sure to always wear an SPF lotion year round to protect your skin from sun and environmental toxins. Maintain a healthy diet and take in a lot of fruits and vegetables to produce antioxidants to help heal your skin from the inside out.
GENETICS. If your Mom’s skin isn’t showing any indications of aging – that can be lucky for you as you do share some DNA that should help your skin too. However, if your parents’ skin aged fast – that doesn’t necessarily mean your skin will too. Perhaps your parents didn’t wear sunscreen or they had some bad habits to contribute to their quicker aging skin – and these are things you can easily prevent on yourself.
I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again – take care of your skin by leading a healthy lifestyle of good eating, taking care of yourself, and using sunscreen and other good skin care products and your skin will continue to thank you by being healthy and looking younger and fresher.
