When it comes to taking care of your skin a lot of people don’t think of going below the neck. They cleanse, exfoliate, treat, and moisturize their face but when it comes to the rest of their body – a bit of soap slapped on in the shower is all it gets. It is important to take care of your body skin as it can have the same issues that facial skin can. It is true that it is generally a little more tough and can handle a bit more than your face, but you should still give it the TLC it needs.
Your chest and neck can often have the same issues that your face does – acne, rosacea, and sun damage. What you do to your face you should carry down onto your neck and chest – especially the sunscreen!
Acne can occur anywhere on your body and should be treated to prevent it from getting worse. Most of the time the same products that help your facial acne will help your back acne, but as I said above sometimes your skin is a little tougher so you may need something a little tougher to work on this skin such as the ZENMED Body Acne Combo.
You should make sure to exfoliate your body as it creates dead skin cells and needs to refresh itself just as on the face. You can make your own scrub with brown sugar or Epsom salts or use a scrub formulated for the body.
One thing that I have heard over and over again is that you can tell someone’s age not from looking at their face – but by looking at their hands! Hands are exposed to the everyday elements of wind, sun, and environmental damage and most people don’t stop to think of doing anything about it. It is extremely important to apply your sunscreen on your hands (and any other exposed body part!) each morning – and throughout the day as you wash your hands. You can use a special sunscreen for the body or hands but I generally just use the same sunscreen as I use on my face – applying it at the same time. If you haven’t been doing this and are noticing age and sun damage on your hands – go ahead and treat them with a lightening cream such as the ZENMED Skin Eraser and you’ll see a difference in no time.
So don’t ignore your body – that skin is just as important as the skin on your face!
