Alpha-Lipoeic Acid
This anti-oxidant fights the signs of aging that come from being exposed to the sun’s UV rays. It encourages new cell growth and is beneficial against free-radicals. Some ot it’s noted uses are:
- A potent and versatile antioxidant.
- It inhibits cross-linking, the formation of chemical bridges between proteins or other large molecules. Cross-linking contributed to the aging process by causing hardening of arteries, wrinkling of the skin and stiffening of joints.
- It has moderate anti-inflammatory effect.
Alpha-Lipoic acid was first discovered and known to be important to the body when it was noted that it prevented Vitamin C and Vitamin E deficiencies. It can also help to maintain the youthfulness of the cells by eliminating dangerous chemicals that result as a by-product of energy production.
