As June is acne awareness month I thought I’d put together a little diet plan for you to follow.
This acne diet will help you reduce your acne breakouts, give you better skin and even boost your immunity.
Your diet won’t actually be the cause of your acne in most cases and it most likely won’t be a cure either but it is one step you should take in helping to control your acne.
Stick with it for a while to see real changes, and if you can, try to make it a total lifestyle change because you will certainly have better skin if you do.
Eating the right foods and knowing what foods you should avoid are part of the puzzle when trying to combat acne. If you do this alongside your daily acne treatments then you will see noticeable difference because the acne diet will help make your acne treatment work better.
Whether you have teenage acne or adult acne this applies to you.
Avoid these:
Firstly you have to cut out all processed carbohydrate foods and drink. These consist of products such as bread, pasta, cakes, pizza, sweets, soda, juices and some take out foods. All these foods rapidly turn to sugars in the body and one thing acne just can’t get enough of is sugar!
You should also watch your dairy intake as this can cause inflammation in some folks or cause oily skin to become more oily which results in acne breakouts.
Eat fruit but don’t go crazy on it every day because it contains high levels of natural sugars which can be an aggravator for some people living with acne.
Eat more of these:
Seafood (especially oysters), nuts (especially Brazil), eggs, seeds, lean meat, poultry, game, ginger, pulses and grains which are all high in Zinc. Zinc deficiency has been linked with acne sufferers so eating these foods regularly will go some way to help boost your zinc levels.
Eat O-mega 3 fatty acids. You can find this in salmon, sardines, mackerel, cod, halibut, flax / lin seeds and walnuts.
Plant based foods such as broccoli, spinach, cucumber, cherries, kale, peas, apricots, carrots and mangoes to name just a few.
Oddly enough if you can get your hands on some ‘brewers yeast’ in the form of Marmite or Vegemite then you’ll be doing your skin a huge favour. Brewers yeast contains a whole host of nutrients including the B complex vitamins, selenium and chromium. All of these combined nutrients provide an array of health benefits and those include the break down of carbohydrates and fats; healthy hair, skin, eyes and nails.
Drink more natural fluids. This may seem like an obvious one but so many people avoid this simple dietary tweak. Your body needs to remain hydrated to maintain homeostasis and keep on top working form. In order for your body to effectively eliminate waste, process nutrients and keep your skin looking healthy it needs to be hydrated.
Water is the obvious choice here but if you fancy a change from H2o or are not that keen on it then try green tea or herbal and fruit teas hot or cold.
If you follow this acne diet then you will seriously reduce your acne flare-ups in about 3 to 6 weeks.
I recommend that on top of this you use a tried and trusted skincare treatment system such as ZENMED Complete Acne Kit. This kit has everything you could possible need to help control your acne.
